While we frequently shine a light on the best hotels around the globe, we rarely call out the spaces within the spaces that make these properties so special, like the lobby bars that turn into neighborhood block parties every evening or the hotel restaurants that are pushing the boundaries of interior design. These are often spots that are open to the public and that turn hotels from places where out-of-towners sleep into integral parts of a destination. So, as an extension of our recent 2024 Hot List of the top new hotels, our global team of editors has decided to applaud the world’s best new hotel bars, restaurants and spas. Below, the hotel spas that are becoming the places to relax and recharge—and the treatments you should book.

Designer Nicole Hollis channeled the local environment at the Asaya Spa.

Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort

Asaya Spa at Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort—Big Island, Hawai’i

Few spas can compete with the stunning backdrop of Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort's Asaya Spa: it’s built into a black lava flow with views toward the Hualalai volcano. That connection to the earth continues throughout the facilities and menu, with treatments that incorporate traditional Hawaiian techniques and ingredients (as well as a few high-potency additions such as facials using Dr. Barbara Sturm products). The real centerpiece here is the indoor/outdoor recovery area, which features hot and cold pools, a sauna and steam room.

The treatment to book: The Lokahi Ceremony, which begins with a gentle full-body enzymatic exfoliation, followed by a rejuvenating massage for that perfect Hawaiian beach glow.

Le Spa at Manoir Hovey—North Hatley, Québec

A crowd favorite retreat nestled on the shores of Lake Massawippi in Québec’s Eastern Townships, Manoir Hovey has long been known for its excellent farm-to-table restaurant and Relais & Châteaux hospitality—but the addition of a 9,000 square-foot spa in 2023 has really taken things to the next level. It’s outfitted with six treatment rooms, three relaxation rooms, a dry sauna and hammam, a pink salt shower experience using salt from Saskatchewan, and a cold plunge pool. There’s never been more reason to escape to the Canadian countryside—just ninety minutes from downtown Montréal.

The treatment to book: The signature “Honey Bliss” facial, which exfoliates the skin naturally with honey sourced from the Manoir’s on-site hives.

The clinic is on an isolated stretch of Mexico's east coast.

SHA

There are over 100 treatment rooms at SHA.

SHA Wellness Clinic Mexico—Costa Mujeres

After 15 years of offering its transformative wellness experiences to the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomi Campbell in Alicante, Spain, SHA has touched down in Costa Mujeres, Mexico, an easy 30-minute drive north from the Cancún International Airport. The minimalist vibe, ascetic without being spartan, is a welcome addition to the area’s local resort scene, and the state-of-the-art spa offers all the latest and greatest devices that will help design your very own wellness protocol. The setting–overlooking a sweep of pristine white sand and the Caribbean Sea–is the cherry on top.

The treatment to book: Trust your practitioner! Treatments are highly customized and the facilities offer a range of cutting-edge technology, including devices for intravenous ozone therapy, and a bed for advanced cell regeneration therapy to repair damaged tissue.

Casa Tuya Remedy Spa—Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza has really leaned into its rage-repent-repeat vibe in recent years, with growing wellness and spa offerings to complement its reputation for celebration. The new Casa Tuya has quickly garnered a reputation as one of the most sought-after wellness spas in Europe, thanks to its holistic approach that begins with a thorough assessment of each guest’s physical, emotional, and spiritual states. From there, a Client Experience Organizer prescribes a course of both traditional spa treatments alongside more alternative therapies like acupuncture, breathwork, guided meditations, and sound baths.

The treatment to book: A one-on-one Shamanic Energy Healing session to really jumpstart your Ibiza experience.

Mila Moursi Spa at Inn at Rancho Santa Fe—San Diego, California

A century after its original debut, the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe reopened in the fall of 2023 after an extensive gut renovation that restored this property to its glorious heyday, complete with a new spa from favorite celebrity facialist Mila Moursi. There’s a great selection of body treatments here, but make sure to book one of the signature facials—this spa is the first hotel partnership with Moursi, a legend in the esthetician world and a pioneer of dry contouring, a natural skin-lifting technique.

The treatment to book: A ninety-minute “Lift & Tone” treatment, which stimulates facial muscles using electrical micro currents to boost collagen and smooth fine lines.

The Peninsula Spa & Wellness Center—Istanbul, Turkey

One of the most captivating things about any visit to Istanbul is the interplay between East and West. This dynamic is on full display at the new spa within the recently opened Peninsula hotel. The scale and breadth of the offerings feel decidedly Western, including a sprawling 82-foot indoor swimming pool and a stunning outdoor pool overlooking the city’s Golden Horn. But when it comes to the level of service and overall sense of tranquility, the brand has looked East, to its beloved hotel spas in Hong Kong and Bangkok. Meanwhile, its breathtaking hammam, white marble inlaid with mother-of-pearl, taps into Istanbul’s very own spa culture.

The treatment to book: If you want to go full-blown decadence, get the 24 Karat Gold Mask & E-finger Facial, which uses a gold (yes, gold) mask to plump the skin, as well as a microcurrent “E-Finger” device to firm the skin and de-puff the eyes.

The new Guerlain Spa is an oasis of calm in central Boston

Carley Rudd/Raffles Boston

Book yourself in for the full day treatments

Carley Rudd/Raffles Boston

Guerlain Spa at Raffles Boston—Massachusetts

With just four treatment rooms, the Guerlain Spa at Raffles’ first North America location feels like something of a best kept secret. Allow the glowing copper elevators to whisk you away to a fourth-floor haven, which never feels too busy and where the treatments are enriched with Guerlain’s aromatherapy-driven products. After your treatment, leave plenty of time to linger—there are relaxation pods, a 65-foot indoor pool, and an experience shower that feels worlds away from the busy city streets outside.

The treatment to book: The “Boston Energy,” a full-body treatment integrating hot stone therapy to address stiffness and soreness—and not just for tired Boston Marathon legs.

Six Senses Spa—Rome, Italy

Considering Six Senses’ longtime wellness focus, it’s no surprise that the spa here is one of the property’s main attractions. Aerial yoga, biohacking, facials with Tuscan brand Seed to Skin, sound therapy, hammam experiences—if you can imagine it, chances are they offer it here. Best of all is the gorgeous hydrotherapy circuit, complete with three plunge pools ranging from hot to cold. In ancient times, Rome’s baths were the place to be; and today at the new Six Senses Rome, they still are.

The treatment to book: A decadent 90-minute full-body scrub in the hammam with Sicilian raw sea salt, sweet fennel and rosemary in the hammam.

The Kilolani Spa pulls inspiration from traditional Hawaiian wellness practices

Angela Conners Treimer/Waldorf Astoria

Kilolani Spa at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort—Wailea, Hawai’i

This $55 million spa is so different from its predecessor that it’s not even fair to call it a renovation. The Grand Wailea’s previous spa felt like a back-up plan for rainy days, but this new iteration, now the largest in the state, feels like a destination unto itself. Treatment rooms face the ocean, open air hydro baths let you capture the scent of flowers on the breeze, and bananas plucked from the on-site trees are offered as relaxation room snacks. No detail here is overlooked—down to treatments’ use of essential oils crafted by a woman on the island named Loleilani who grows botanicals according to the lunar cycles.

The treatment to book: The Ho’omāli Ritual, a 120-minute treatment incorporating rhythmic traditional lomi lomi bodywork techniques, as well as a warm pōhaku stone foot treatment and hydrating coconut scalp massage.

SIRO One Za’abeel—Dubai, UAE

Dubai has a reputation for excess, and the city’s first completely wellness-centric hotel is no exception. At the 31st floor “Recovery Lab” (don’t call it a mere “spa”), you’ll find saunas, steam rooms, cold plunge pools, as well as twelve recovery rooms outfitted with top-of-the-line tech, like a vibroacoustic waterbed which combines binaural acoustics via headphones with vibration frequencies via the bed for deepest relaxation.

The treatment to book: INDIBA Activ, a radio frequency treatment to promote accelerated tissue repair.

An array of options at Lapis Spa include this relaxation room for up to eight people.

Mark Mediana/DREX Agency/Fontainebleau

Lapis Spa at Fontainebleau—Las Vegas, NV

There’s nothing small about Vegas, and the Lapis Spa at the Fontainebleau—all 55,000 square feet of it—is over the top in all the best ways. There’s even a spa-within-a-spa “Supernova Suite” for parties of up to eight people, complete with its own vitality pool, steam, shower, lockers, restrooms, grooming area, dining area, and treatment tables. Bachelorette parties will never be the same.

The treatment to book: The Lapis Signature Facial, which incorporates GeneoX cleansing, Cryotherapy serum, Oxfoliate exfoliation using oxygen bubbles, ultrasound therapy, lymphatic drainage, and red-light LED therapy—all in ninety minutes flat.

Southern Spa at Southern Ocean Lodge—Kangaroo Island, South Australia

One of the great comeback stories of the last year has been Southern Ocean Lodge, a beloved Luxury Lodge of Australia that was entirely lost to the brutal bush fires of 2020. As opposed to the rest of the lodge, which was rebuilt to its former footprint, the spa here was completely reimagined. Now north-facing, the spa turns its back on the ocean views to instead focus on the stark and powerful beauty of the landscape’s regenerating bush. Body and face treatments draw on the island’s rich bounty of lavender, eucalyptus and honey, for an experience that is aromatic, efficacious, and deeply moving.

The treatment to book: The “alkene Dreaming,” a signature facial and body wrap treatment that integrates nourishing Australian essential oils and botanical extracts.

The chic spa at The Little Nell has introduced a new level of pampering to Aspen.

Shawn O'Connor/The Little Nell

The Spa at The Little Nell—Aspen, Colorado

Located at the base of Aspen Mountain, this intimate newcomer and the long-loved Little Nell is the area’s only ski-in, ski-out spa, so you can go from a day on the slopes into a treatment and then on to dinner without skipping a beat. Treatments here are tailored to suit individual needs, whether that means you’re looking to soothe your tired ski legs, or if you’re more focused on an anti-aging skin treatment. Partnerships with Dr. Barbara Sturm, Seed to Skin Tuscany, and local Colorado favorite ISUN ensure that some of the field’s most en vogue products are used in your treatments.

The treatment to book: Aspen sits 8,000 feet above sea level, and the Altitude Adjustment Ritual—a full-body exfoliation and body mask, followed by a detoxifying facial and Swedish massage—is a great way to ease your body into this environment.
